CRACKING WINDSHIELD

Your windshield is probably one of the parts of your Prius that you don’t think about until it starts causing problems. They’re critical, but also largely invisible parts of your vehicle, which can lead to a lot of frustration when they crack and need servicing. Unfortunately, one of the problems with Prius’ is that they tend to windshield issues, even without hazardous conditions or reasons for the windshield to crack. Temperature differences, pressure changing how the windshield flexes, and other problems can all cause a significant crack. Rocks and gravel are also a problem since chips from a rock can quickly spread into a crack. Depending on the problem you have you might be able to get a chip repair that stabilizes the windshield before a crack happens. However, once you have a crack your windshield will need replacing. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION

Another common Prius problem is oil consumption. This can be a result of engine wear and tear in older vehicles, piston problems, clogged ports, and a variety of other engine and fuel system inefficiencies. If you’re coming in with excessive oil consumption we’ll take a close look at your engine to identify the exact problem you’re dealing with, and then work with you to come up with a maintenance or repair game plan that will get your engine’s oil use back to normal.

ENGINE PROBLEMS

Prius engines might be incredibly efficient, but they can also break down over time. Problems range from head gasket issues (requiring a replacement gasket) to overheating and stalling that can have a variety of causes. HEADLIGHT FAILURE

Headlights do need occasional replacements, but you should expect your headlights to last around 4 years at least before they need a routine replacement. Prius, however, are known to have some headlight problems that can make the headlights go out early. If your headlights aren’t performing we’ll check to see if it’s because you need a replacement bulb, the headlights aren’t aimed correctly, or if there is a wiring issue. Most of the time a simple repair will get you back on your feet. However, in the rare case that your headlights need outright replacement, we can do that too.

INCORRECT FUEL GAUGE READING

On other vehicles, we would suspect that incorrect fuel gauge readings were because of a bad fuel sending unit, but when it comes to a Prius there are a few other likely culprits. Toyota has a recalibration process specifically for this problem, and it resolves the issue a lot of the time.
