COOPER
The Cooper is everything a Mini Cooper should be, including the retro styling and a design that looks like it came out 50 years ago, instead of getting a 2017 revival. There are a lot of plus sides to this design, including that consumers have the option of a 3-cylinder turbo engine or upgrading for the better acceleration of a 4-cylinder with turbo. That said, the Cooper offers a lot of style and class but needs an experienced mechanic to keep the ride running smooth and to help prevent unnecessary wear and tear on the engine and transmission. The Cooper might not have a ton of cargo space, weight, or other features known to stress the system, but its performance-enhanced design still needs careful attention to detail to keep everything running well.
COOPER CLUBMAN
The Clubman is a Mini Cooper that knows what it is, but that manages to marry the retro design with more modern styling that stands out on the street without looking out of place. This is the design for Mini Cooper fans who need a little more space, or who want a vehicle that isn’t quite as eye-catching as the smaller Cooper. The Clubman is available with a couple of different transmission styles, both of which work well overall but need occasional care and attention to make sure they keep working in top form. The engine offers plenty of power and acceleration, but the larger tires on this design make brake maintenance and regular alignments a must. Of course, and all of that is not to mention that if you want a smoother more comfortable ride you’ll need a mechanic that knows the ins and outs of the suspension for maintenance and improvement.
COOPER COUNTRYMAN
The Countryman might be a small SUV, but it’s downright giant compared with the other models in Mini Cooper’s lineup. This design is a little different from most Mini Coopers in other ways too, especially when it comes to driving. This is a more down-to-earth ride, missing some of the driver’s assist technologies that have become common in recent years. What does that mean in terms of maintenance? Well, for one thing, it means that your mechanic needs to make sure your car’s alignment is good, the suspension is working well, and that the drivetrain is working properly. It’s easier for the Countryman to try to get away from you than other Mini Cooper designs, but a good mechanic can keep it running and driving smoothly.

COOPER PACEMAN
If you’re looking for the smallest of the small, the Paceman might be a good option. Even for a Mini Cooper the Paceman is on the small side. Available in both a manual and automatic transmission, standard front-wheel drive, and a compact 4-cylinder engine, the Paceman doesn’t sound like a vehicle that needs much extra maintenance. However, the performance of the Paceman, especially compared with some of the more powerful options in the Mini Cooper lineup, makes it clear that maintenance is important for this vehicle. Everything from the transmission to the wheels needs to be working well if you want the Paceman to drive the way a Mini Cooper should, and that takes a mechanic who understands that making a great machine smaller is a bigger challenge – and is willing to take that challenge seriously. Looking for a mechanic that can take care of your Mini Cooper, no matter which model or year you’re driving? Precision Auto Care can help.
