FUEL PUMP FAILURE

Honda Civics are overall a low-maintenance vehicle, but this is one problem that Honda had to issue a recall to fix. The problem is that the original fuel pumps are underpowered, causing intermittent failures, engine stalling, and other serious problems. Since engine stalling can be dangerous and even cause accidents, this isn’t a small problem. Honda issued a recall and started replacing fuel pumps for free back in 2021, but there are some limitations. HONDA SENSING PROBLEMS

When Honda sensors are working they do a good job of monitoring your Honda Civic and keeping everything working the way it should. When the sensors are having an issue they can cause problems and incorrectly calibrate a wide range of vehicle functions, ranging from the inconsequential to the major. There are some known calibration and cleanliness issues with this system though. The sensors don’t work as well when they’re dirty, and they can get out of sync and cause a range of problems that way too. Your mechanic can evaluate the sensors, see if they need to be cleaned, troubleshoot, and calibrate them. However, in some cases, you may need to replace specific sensors, which your mechanic can diagnose and let you know while they’re testing.

OIL DILUTION

Oil dilution happens when the engine allows gasoline to mix with the engine oil. Since one of those is meant to combust and the other is meant to provide lubrication and reduce friction, you can imagine the kinds of problems mixing them can cause. Usually, oil dilution is detected when the amount of oil in the engine rises past a certain level, causing the system to send an oil pressure warning. However, it can cause problems before the dilution reaches that level. While this isn’t an entirely fixable problem, regular oil checks and changes can help control it and prevent the amount of gas in the oil from reaching problematic levels. Your mechanic may also warn you that they’re seeing some oil dilution and that you need to get your oil check more often because of it.

EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS

Civics are known to have hard seats, which contributes to the discomfort, but some of the problems is also that they aren’t very ergonomic and create an uncomfortable forward head position. Sometimes adjusting the seats can help, but in other cases, you might be better off talking with your mechanic about replacement options to get a more comfortable seat installed.

RAPID AND UNEVEN TIRE WEAR
